1. Whitsundays

Made up of 74 lush, tropical islands on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays is one of the most popular yachting destinations in Australia. Home to pristine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and a dizzying array of colourful marine life, it’s a little slice of paradise on Earth. Hamilton Island is by far the largest and most popular of the Whitsundays, but it’s by no means the only place to make a stop. From Whitehaven Beach and Hook Island to the beautiful Bait Reef Lagoon and Butterfly Bay, each island serves up the tropics in its own unique way. Spend the Summer island hopping with the yachting crowd – making the most of your time both above and beneath the waves. If it’s tropical you’re looking for, it’s tropical you’ll get right here.

2. Moreton Island, Brisbane

Located off the coast of Brisbane, Moreton Island is the third-largest sand island in the world! Vast sandy beaches, warm blue waters and plenty of activities to enjoy, make this island a must. Nestled just off the coast of Moreton Island is the famous Tangalooma Wreck, a cluster of ships scuttled by the Queensland Government between 1963 and 1984 to provide a safe anchorage spot for recreational boat owners. Snorkel through the colourful array of coral and discover the haven of fish and marine life, including dolphins, wobbegongs and dugongs.  In the evening, dolphins make their way towards the shore of Tangalooma Island Resort, waiting to be hand-fed fresh fish. In the centre of the island, the freshwater Blue Lagoon is perfect for a refreshing dip and alfresco picnic, while quad biking and 4WD tracks can be found across the island. Fantastic for families and groups of friends searching for adventure, this gem in Brisbane is well worth dedicating a few days too.

Explore the lush forests of the Daintree National Park and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of upscale restaurants, beachside bars, and nightclubs at Cairns Esplanade. Families tend to head to Parramatta Park and Trinity Beach which are within easy reach to beautiful beaches, a buzzing social scene and gorgeous views.  If you prefer something a little more low key and laid back, nearby Port Douglas is a great hub to explore from.

From paddleboarding on crystal-clear waters, learning to water ski or enjoying the cooling waters from a floating playground, fun of the water is never-ending. 5. Pittwater

Pittwater is all about the beach lifestyle and living on the water. Pittwater is a vast body of water that separates the Central Coast from Greater Sydney. Clareville Beach, Paradise Beach, Palm Beach, Mona Vale Beach and Avalon Beach are all well worth a visit; providing fantastic opportunities for snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, watersports and sunbathing. Enjoy whale watching from the Northern Beaches as Humpbacks make their way along the ‘Humpback Highway’ before watching the sunset over the Barrenjoey Lighthouse.

6. The Kimberley

The next stop in Mallorca is at the old Roman town of Pollensa. Blonde stone buildings, rustic architecture, beautiful beaches and restaurants galore await. The bay is home to many colourful wooden fishing boats, surrounded by luxurious superyachts. Easily accessible by yacht and ideal for enjoying the lively nightlife, entertainment, and beautiful beaches of the North, Puerto Pollensa is a fantastic place for families, couples, and groups of friends. 7. Torres Strait

Located between Australia and Papua New Guinea, the Torres Strait Islands are a paradise for the yachting crowd looking for isolated tropical islands, stunning seascapes and culture galore. Only a small handful of the islands are inhabited and of these, just a few allow visitors to make their way on land. This guarantees there won’t be hordes of tourists getting in your way as you navigate your way around some of the most beautiful island waters in the country.
